There aren't words to describe the beauty of Glacier National Park in Montana. As the snow begins to fall in our new home of Anchorage, Alaska, we reflect to first visiting Glacier in July of 2007. An amazing array of landscapes, flora and fauna - Glacier was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our 4800+ mile drive from Florida to Alaska

As we begin to enter our first Alaskan winter, we step back to July of 2007 and explore the Canadian River basin of central Oklahoma. Along the way we come across many frogs and even a few snakes. Of particular interest is the fantastically robust Diamondback watersnake (Nerodia rhombifer).

Alas! The return trip comes to a close with a visit to Halfmoon Lake and Alexander Springs in the Ocala National Forest. It's been a busy ten days, but it's time to pack up and head home to Alaska. Alexander Springs proves a fitting place to say goodbye... until next time.

Ah, the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. This is a spectacular region in southcentral Oklahoma. A vast display of lush open prairie, red rock canyons, and rolling, ancient remnant mountains.

And then the snow came. Twenty inches of snow fell during a single late-spring storm in Anchorage, Alaska. It was rather shocking. After a month or so of snow-melt, suddenly the green was erased and winter came back for one last slog through white and grey.

Finally we come to Canada, well into our 4800+ mile drive from Florida to Alaska. In Canada, we pause for a few days to explore Banff and Yoho National Parks, on the border of British Columbia and Albeta. This is a seriously awesome region, loaded with landscapes and animals. Just awesome.

In this episode, we cruise around western and north Oklahoma, skirting around and hopping through several state parks. From the rusty walls of Red Rock Canyon to the sandy dunes of Little Sahara, we survey a taste of what Oklahoma has to offer.

Fairly short and simple, this is a video of the 2007 Alaska State Fair, held in Palmer, Alaska (a little bit east and north of Anchorage). This was our first experience of the Alaska State Fair, something that is quite popular with the locals!
